It's Here! Doodle Club!

Many of my students have had so much fun that they want to extend the fun after class.  I have now started a Doodle Club with a few of my students.  I'd like to invite you to join us!  Our next meeting is Thursday October 15th, 6:30 p.m. at the Coffee Rush shop on Val Vista, 1/4 mile south of Guadalupe in Gilbert.  We had so much fun last month learning to do ATC cards (Artist trading cards)
This month Amber will show us how to add writing phrases into our work.

Lots of News!

Hello art friends-   Wow the last few weeks have been busy.  A bad cold came on in addition to severe jaw pain resulting in a root canal!  It actually ended up not being too bad!
I have collected some ideas from around the internet world for ideas in doodling.  This first one I intend to do when my daughter moves out and I get the bigger room for my art room. (She graduates in December, so maybe sometime next year).

Isn't this great?  I'll prime the wall and then actually do the doodling with a brush, so doodling in paint!  I've done this before and not hard, just time consuming using a brush.  Acrylic inks work very well for a project like this.

Looks like doodling is out of control!  People are leaving their mark everywhere!

Oh how I would love to do this!

Fun frames and painted rocks just for giggles!

Use one coat of white acrylic to smooth the rock before drawing.  These would even be great using black acrylic and a white gelly roll pen!

New Visual Journal Class!  Work in your own journal learning new painting, stamping and tangling techniques.  We'll use watercolor tube paints (with glitter!), watercolor crayons, alcohol inks, acrylic inks and more!  Be sure to pick up a supply list!

Phoenix Foster Kids Fundrasier a hit!

It was fun getting together with fellow doodlers to color our lunch bags, with proceeds going to the Phoenix Foster kids.  The shelters are so full that many children are sleeping in government office buildings in the evening, only to have to wake up and be out of those offices before working time.  The kids have to go to school and I doubt they get much sleep!

 

National Coloring Book Day! August 2nd!

Amazon reports that the top selling books right now are adult coloring books!    They are flying off the shelves in local craft and book stores as well.  What's the craze all about?  STRESS!  Coloring is a stress reliever for many adults, a mindless fun activity.   Try it with your children and/or grandchildren and add to the fun.   There is a myriad of coloring tools out there.  Watercolor crayons, multi-colored colored pencils, gel pens, brush markers and more.    Check out this link for free beautiful coloring pages www.coloringbookday.com      You can use your doodles, make copies and share your designs to color!   Be sure to get out those pens and paper come August 2nd!

New Journal Entries!

       Sometimes when you work in your journal it is for your own pleasure.  I'm working on coloring this one and using colored pencil shading.   Will post the colored version soon!

          A way to practice your tangles is putting them between lines.  I decided to make this a tribute to our family.  We are starting to be empty nesters and was just missing my kids!

New Student Work.  Amazing what you can learn in a two-three hour class!  Great Job!
